Monday, April 3, 2017

(Washington, DC) - Today, DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority (DCHBX) Executive Director Mila Kofman announced that Angela Franco, the current CEO of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC), will be joining the DCHBX's leadership team as a Senior Adviser. Franco announced earlier this year she would be leaving the GWHCC to seek other opportunities and will be stepping down from her current position on April 30, 2017.

Angela Franco will start with DCHBX on May 1, 2017. In her new role, Franco will help DCHBX’s business development efforts, primarily responsible for growing and strengthening relationships with the small business community and with the Latino community. As a member of the senior team at DCHBX, she will also work with the federal and local governments.

Angela Franco began her professional career in Bogota, Colombia in the financial world where she worked in the insurance and banking industries for over 18 years. In November 2009, Angela became President and CEO of the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, she helped the Chamber to solidify and strengthen its role with Hispanic businesses and entrepreneurs and grow its membership by hundreds of small businesses, which resulted in the GWHCC receiving the Mid-Size Hispanic Chamber of the Year award from the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She has been honored as one of the 50 Most Powerful U.S. and International Business Executives by Minority Enterprise Advocate and was recognized as a leading Minority Business Leader by the Washington Business Journal.
