The Breakfast of Champions - Coffee, Doughnuts and Health Insurance

Friday, March 28, 2014
Assisters greet 7-Eleven shoppers and enroll consumers during resident’s morning commute.

What/Who:

Certified DC Health Link Assisters will be at two 7-Eleven locations in the District next Monday, March 31 to distribute information and to enroll consumers in health insurance plans. Assisters will reach out to early morning risers and commuters as they stop by the convenient stores for their morning coffee, doughnuts, bagels and other breakfast food. Outreach teams will also encourage residents to beat the last minute rush and avoid the tax penalty.

Catching residents where they shop, eat, and hang out has proven to be successful when targeting potential consumers. Strip malls and convenient store locations are high traffic areas ideal for providing the uninsured with information about the Affordable Care Act, and helping them to sign up for health coverage by March 31.

In-person assisters and licensed health insurance brokers will also be on-hand to answer questions, assist with the enrollment process, and share information about eligibility for reductions in premium and out-of-pocket expenses.
