DC Health Link to “POWER UP” Businesses East of the River

WHAT/WHO:  DC Health Link, in partnership with Union Temple Baptist Church, Anacostia Economic Development Corporation and Life Assets, will bring critical resources and opportunities to small businesses located East of the River with POWERUP DC: EAST “Access to Capital for Small Businesses.” This FREE information forum is designed to help support DC small businesses, especially those businesses located East of the River, with information about traditional and nontraditional lending opportunities.

The goal of POWERUP DC: EAST is to provide support and valuable information to help small businesses grow and prosper, with a focus on one of the greatest needs of small business owners—access to capital. Participants will learn about how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) can benefit them and their employees and encourage their enrollment in quality affordable health insurance through the District’s online marketplace, DC Heath Link. 

POWER UP DC: EAST “Access to Capital for Small Businesses" will provide:

  • Financial experts with access to capital for small businesses
  • Businesses with resources on accessing capital
  • Opportunities to learn about the small business marketplace provisions of the ACA and health insurance coverage options offered through DC Health Link 
  • Opportunities for one-on-one counseling with Small Business Administration certified Small Business Counselors

Every year they employ more than half the private work force nationally, create new jobs, and drive a majority of American innovations as well as increase US competitiveness. The small businesses of Washington, DC are no exception and it is important to support their growth and to help them in turn to support their employees. “POWER UP DC” is an initiative developed to support small business by providing insights and networking opportunities through a range of cutting edge business seminars, workshops, special events and focused presentations from government and private sector representatives on the latest business trends and opportunities.
