White House, DC Health Link Officials Pause to Say Thanks at Sunday Worship Service and Urge Continued Enrollment Push to Finish Line

Friday, March 28, 2014
Special day to include music by Howard University Gospel Choir, onsite enrollment for residents and small businesses, health screenings and more.

What/Who:

DC Health Link (DCHL) and White House officials will say “Thank You” this Sunday, March 30 to all of its local faith based partners and in-person assisters during a special appreciation service at Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, 4606 16th Street, NW. The central message will be “Great job, but there’s more to do; the race to the finish line is not over yet.” More than 100 in-person assisters, faith based organizations and community leaders will be recognized for their hard work, creativity, and accomplishments-to-date.

The special service will be led by Rev. Dr. Derrick A. Harkins, Senior Pastor at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church. Inspirational music will be rendered by the renowned Howard University Gospel Choir.

Before, during and after the worship service, health screenings and a health insurance enrollment fair will take place to provide an opportunity for consumers and small businesses to enroll before the next open enrollment period. Certified in-person assisters and licensed health insurance brokers will be on-hand to provide information, answer questions, assist with the enrollment process and share information about eligibility for reductions in premium and out-of-pocket expenses.

Following the service and enrollment fair, DC Health Link will exhibit at 3:00 pm with the “Business Sunday” event being sponsored by Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, the US Small Business Administration (SBA) Minority Business Development Agency, and the US Department of Commerce.

Special guests throughout the day will include Melissa Rogers, Special Assistant to the President and Executive Director, White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Mila Kofman, J. D. Executive Director of the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority, Angela Franco, President and CEO, Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and others.
