In celebration of Words AIDS Day, three local jurisdictions (DC, MD, and VA) will come to together to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection, to honor those who have died of the disease and to encourage political leaders to keep their commitment to achieving universal access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care, and support. During the community event, sponsored in part by the DC Health Department, attendees will enjoy fine food, drag performances, live DJ, information sharing, inspiring speakers, and advocates as well as access to valuable resources from HIV/AIDS organizations and agencies focused on housing, mental health, and medical services. These resources reflect a syndemic approach, addressing interconnected health and social issues as part of the collective commitment to end the HIV epidemic.
