DC Health Link at GWHCC Accessing to Capital How to get funds for your business

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (GWHCC) Accessing to Capital event encourages members, business owners and local community to learn how to get funds to start and grow their businesses. Small business owners will have the opportunity to connect with private lenders and more lending organizations. During the event GHWCC and DC Health Link will setup a stand with flyers and resources to inform and educate attendees about the ACA and its benefits for small businesses. The GWHCC designated Program Manager will be available to answer any questions.

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) in collaboration with LEDC will hold the DC Small Business Connections event. This will give the opportunity to small business owners that are already LEDC or GWHCC clients to talk about their own business experiences. This opportunity will encourage other DC residents to create self-employment opportunities and business owner to grow and move to the next level. During the event GHWCC and DC Health Link will have a table with flyers and resources to inform and educate attendees about the ACA and its benefits for small businesses.

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) Cafecito event is a periodic meeting for all active members who are invited to join the President and CEO, and Board members to talk about the Chamber, its plans for the year, receive feedback on the services that are provide to the members and how to maximize the benefits. This annual event, hosted by the DC Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Country Club at Woodmore.  More than 80 persons participated.   DC Health Link was onsite to provide attendees with information on the benefits of the Affordable Care act and DC Health Link SHOP small business marketplace.  DC Health Link promotional materials were placed in each Golfer’s gift pack.

This unity event is an opportunity to bring the community together, share information and provide some health screenings (HIV and Hep C). There will also be games, dancing and food. DC Health Link certified Assisters will be on site to provide in-person education and enrollment assistance to District consumers as well as answer questions, and provide information about Medicaid options and financial help with plan premiums. DC Health Link at DMV Athletes In Action Legends Picnic

The 5th Annual Legends in Action Picnic is hosted by DMV-Athletes In Action, Inc., a group of former athletes committed to promoting health, fitness and wellness for its members, and supporters. The event attracts more than 700 athletes, friends and families of all ages (youths to seniors) for a day of reunion, celebration, recreation and fun. The picnic honors notable individuals who have made substantial contributions to athletes and youth in the District, Maryland and Virginia. The event, will feature Radio ONE’s WOL 1450-AM broadcasting “live” from the picnic site.

GWHCC Women’s Group meets quarterly around the DC region to provide a forum for women small business owners, during which an invited speaker makes a presentation to the group on various topics of interest.
