DC Health Link - African American Week of Action - Black Lives Matter: Getting Back to the Dream

DC Health Link - 2nd Sunday Faith in Action (Interfaith Weekend)

DC Health Link has designated every 2nd Sunday during Open Enrollment as “Faith in Action Sunday” where faith leaders share information from the pulpit about the importance of good health and quality affordable health insurance coverage.  Trained In-Person Assisters and health insurance brokers will be onsite to assist with enrollment and plan selection, answer questions, and provide information about Medicaid options and financial help with plan premiums.

DC Health Link at White House Healthy Young America Conference

DC Health Link will participate in the White House Health Young America Conference with White House and Administration officials to discuss outreach and organizing around open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act with youth and health care-focused organizations.   More specifically, the discussion will be centered on efforts leading up to National Youth Enrollment Day on January 29th.

DC Health Link’s Faith In Actin initiative was designed to engage the faith community to support and assist with outreach and enrollment in their congregations and surrounding communities.  The Leadership Council for Healthy Communities (LCHC), a DC Health Link IPA organization, will be on-site with trained In-Person Assisters and health insurance brokers to provide information about affordable health insurance through DC Health Link, Medicaid options and financial help with plan premiums. They will answer questions and assist with enrollment and plan selection.

Barber shops in African American communities are more than a place to get a haircut and a shave. It’s a gathering sanctum where men meet to share stories about life events, get the latest information about what's happening in the community and in recent years a setting where health promotion and study take place. In many neighborhoods barbershops are the center of activities when young boys learn a little something about manhood.
