Health Insurance Literacy Forum 101 (Amharic)

Often, the abundance and complexity of health insurance choices can be overwhelming to consumers and impact their understanding of plan features. DC Health Link Assister partner, Mary’s Center and Leadership Council for Healthy Communities (LCGC) will host a health insurance literacy educational forum entitled “101 Health Insurance Enrollment Education,” to provide residents with information and resources to understand and make informed decisions about health insurance options. This session is specifically for Amharic speaking residents.

Greater Washington Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School, District government agencies in partnership with DC Health Link to offer a one-stop shop for eligible health consumers to receive enrollment services including: expert help from licensed brokers and certified assisters, identity proofing, insurance program determination, premium reduction, verification, and legal assistance. Services are available in multiple languages.

Broadcasted locally and nationally with an emphasis on issues to change lives for the better, the program is fun, entertaining, friendly and most importantly serves to provide the Hispanic community with valuable information on a broad range of topics. Program host, Pedro Biaggi delves deep into what affects people. Often, many of the issues discussed are not highlighted in traditional media.

Enrollment Information Workshop with E. L. Haynes Public Charter School

DC Health Link in partnership with Mary’s Center will provide health insurance information and enrollment services directly to families at El Hanes Public Charter School. Information about steps to enrollment along with Medicaid and private insurance options, qualified health plans and financial help with plan premiums will be shared. National Hispanic Enrollment Week of Action – A Focus on Health (In Spanish)

With nearly 97 percent of residents insured in the District of Columbia, DC Health Link has worked at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to remove barriers to medical care and to cover remaining uninsured residents, especially those who have been disproportionately impacted by the virus. DC Health Link and The Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), a DC Health Link community partner, have joined to recognize National Hispanic Enrollment Week of Action and will host a virtual conversation with the members of the Hispanic community.
