The National African American Male Wellness Walk (AAWALK) Initiative was established in 2004 to combat the alarming numbers of African American men dying prematurely to preventable diseases. Men, women and children will come together at this annual National African American Male Wellness 5k walk/run to raise awareness in the area of health disparities among African American men.  DC Health Link certified Assisters will be on site to provide in-person education and enrollment assistance to District consumers.

The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC), DC Health Link, and Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will host a business workshop “How to Link Small Businesses with Incubator services” Supporting small businesses, most of which operate as nonprofits, has become a staple for many local governments and universities seeking to attract and retain entrepreneurial talent. Incubators become a decisive part of the chain, not only providing office space, also access to other entrepreneurs and experts willing to dole out business advice and resources.

DC Health Link, the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC), and Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will host a POP-UP Market for families and business community in wards 7 & 8. We are inviting food producers, food vendors, handcrafts artisans, Customized shoes or clothes makers to participate and promote their goods and products. GWHCC will provide sponsor up to 20 businesses. This is a great showcase opportunity for small business and startups.
