DC Health Link Honors Dr. King with Enrollment Push

Monday, January 15, 2018
Marching in MLK, Jr. Day Parade highlights important enrollment opportunities in District ahead of Jan. 31 deadline

WHAT: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane." DC Health Link representatives are honoring the work and spirit of Dr. King by using the MLK Day of Service to reach uninsured residents and enroll them in a health plan before the January 31 deadline for 2018 coverage. And with just over two weeks before the end of the Open Enrollment Period, DC Health Link is ramping up outreach efforts to the African-American community, where the uninsured rate remains high.

On Monday, DC Health Link team members will proudly march in the Martin Luther King Day Holiday Peace Walk and Parade, holding banners, reminding people to enroll by the January 31 deadline, handing out flyers, and directing residents for enrollment assistance. One-on-one enrollment support will be available at the end of the parade route at the Barry Farm Recreation Center.

In person enrollment support will be available at the Barry Farm Recreation Center as part of the Barry Farm Health Fair until 3:00pm. In addition, DC Health Link representatives will be participating in the United Planning Organization’s Community Impact Day at the Petey Greene Community Service Center offering one-on-one enrollment support.
