WHAT/WHO:
Millennials (people between the ages of 18 - 34) are the most underinsured demographic within the District of Columbia and the country. National Youth Enrollment Day (#NYED) targets the interests and health needs of this population to encourage them to enroll in quality, affordable health insurance offered through health insurance exchanges like DC Health Link. DC Health Link has scheduled several new and existing events for #NYED.
On National Youth Enrollment Day— Saturday, December 10, 2016—DC Health Link will partner with Young Invincibles, Enroll America, Out 2 Enroll, and the White House Office on Public Engagement to visit popular Millennial brunch spots. DC Health Link partners and staff will “bounce” from one brunch spot to the next to reach, inform and engage young adults about the Affordable Care Act and health insurance coverage through DC Health Link. Through this unique canvassing of commercial and residential areas, certified assisters and volunteers will spread the word to this targeted hard-to-reach population and answer questions about enrollment, insurance renewal, financial help and enrollment support and locations.
During National Youth Enrollment Day, DC Health Link will also be participating in a social media blitz using its platforms on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to reach District Millennials. Messages will include encouraging Millennials to get enrolled in quality, affordable health insurance coverage through DC Health Link and reminding them of the upcoming December 15th deadline to get enrolled for coverage beginning January 1.
