DC Health Link Pulling an All-Nighter to Enroll Residents Ahead of January 31st Deadline

Friday, January 24, 2020
City leaders and radio personalities to join DC Health Link at Ben’s Chili Bowl for 24-hour enrollment marathon in whirlwind final weekend of Open Enrollment

WHAT:

With the January 31 enrollment deadline just days away, DC Health Link will hold its signature 24-hour enrollment marathon at DC’s famous landmark eatery—Ben’s Chili Bowl—starting at noon, Saturday, January 25,2020 until noon, Sunday January 26, 2020 to provide an additional opportunity for uninsured residents to enroll in quality, affordable health insurance. New this year is the accompanying DC Health Link “radio-thon shout-outs” in which different local radio stations will broadcast live on-site at Ben’s this final weekend before the Open Enrollment Period ends. DC Health Link Assisters be on-hand during the entire 24 hours to provide free enrollment support, with student volunteers from George Washington University helping as well.

In addition to this 24-hour enrollment event, DC Health Link will offer District residents additional FREE one-on-one enrollment assistance this weekend at different locations throughout the city—including barber shops, churches, and schools—to help residents get covered before the Open Enrollment Period ends.

During the 24-hour enrollment marathon and “radio-thon” at Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street, NW, different on-air radio personalities will encourage listeners to stop by to enroll in quality, affordable health insurance before the January 31 deadline. District lawmakers and government officials, along with community leaders, will also be on hand to participate in the “radio-thon shout-outs” to urge residents to enroll in health insurance before the deadline and to remind them that the District of Columbia requires all residents to have health insurance, an exemption, or pay a tax penalty.
