The DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority today released new data covering the period of October 1 to December 10 regarding activity at DCHealthLink.com, the District of Columbia’s new online health insurance marketplace for individuals, families, and small businesses. Since October 1, 133,973 unique visitors have visited the site. The data indicate continued strong interest in shopping, comparing, and choosing quality, affordable health insurance. Residents have until December 23, 2013, to choose a health plan in order to have benefits effective January 1, 2014. Open enrollment for individuals and families will continue through March 31, 2014. Small business owners can choose to purchase coverage and enroll their employees at any time.
Accounts Created
- A total of 33,019 accounts have been created by individuals and families on DCHealthLink.com. A secure, personal account allows people to review plan options and prices. There are 34 health insurance options for individuals and families.
- A total of 982 business accounts have also been created. Small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time equivalent employees are eligible for coverage through DCHealthLink.com. There are 267 health insurance options for small businesses.
Applications Submitted
- A total of 5,603 individuals and families have completed online applications required to purchase coverage through DCHealthLink.com. This total includes 3,300 applications requesting financial help (either Medicaid or federal tax credits) and 2,303 applications that do not request financial help.
