Final Ward Enrollment Day to Take Place Saturday in Ward 1

What/Who:
The countdown to the last few weeks of open enrollment for individuals and families has finally begun, so mark your calendars for this Saturday, March 1 as we host our final ward enrollment day in Ward 1. This weekend’s enrollment day will take place at Mount Pleasant Library located at 3136 16th Street, NW and will allow residents to sign-up for health insurance without leaving the comfort of their neighborhood.

Enrollment days have been set aside to enroll residents, small business owners and their employees in affordable health plans that meet their needs and budgets through DC Health Link. DC Health Link is the District’s new online marketplace for health insurance coverage. These days aim to bring the opportunity for consumers to enroll in health plans directly to residents in their neighborhoods, so that they do not have to leave their communities in order to sign-up for health insurance. 

Trained experts, DC Health Link assisters and licensed health insurance brokers will be at the Mount Pleasant Library to provide information and assist with the enrollment process.

Background:
The new health law provides individuals, families, and small businesses in the District of Columbia with new options for quality, affordable health insurance. 

DC Health Link is the District’s online health insurance marketplace that allows visitors to shop, compare, and buy coverage that fits their needs and budgets.

Eligible residents have until March 31, 2014, to enroll in a health insurance plan through DCHealthLink.com. Those who enroll before March 15, 2014, will have benefits effective April 1, 2014. Small businesses can enroll through DCHealthLink.com at any point.

Faith leaders are being asked to share information from their pulpits about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and quality, affordable health plans offered through DCHealthLink.com.
