The GWHCC will hold the Construction Matchmaking event at the PNC Bank. During this event construction industry buyers and suppliers will match their business needs. This is an opportunity for small business owners to increase their sales and have better commercial opportunities and local and federal government contracts. During the workshop, GHWCC and DC Health Link will setup a stand with flyers and resources to inform and educate attendees about the ACA and its benefits for small businesses. DC Public Schools is sponsoring a children’s literacy festival intended to inspire a love of reading and celebrate literacy at home, school and in the community by inviting local authors, storytellers, and organizations to connect our youngest learners and their families. This festival will be designed as a multi-disciplinary event filled with children’s activities that involve storytelling, music, art, drama, science, art, and resources for families.

The DC Office of the Attorney General and MedStar Family Choice will host the First Annual Fatherhood Conference and Men’s Health Fair, a day of education and enrichment to help men who want to become better fathers. The Fatherhood Conference will help men get mentally in tune with themselves and their families, teach them how to maintain and improve their finances, and educate them on the crucial role of child support in maintaining healthy relationships with their families.

DC Health Link at CSOSA Community Resource Day Video Conference

The DC Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency is sponsoring a Community Resource Day to provide more than 300 District offenders, being released over the next 90 days, with information about community-based resources and services available to assist them upon their return home. The topics to be covered include the critical areas of housing, health care, education and employment, along with family strengthening and child support.

At SWNA’s May meeting, DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority staff will provide updates on DC Health Link, the District’s online health insurance marketplace, including current federal government and congressional efforts to change the Affordable Care Act. Ward 6 representatives from the Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office on community relations will also attend.
