Public Hearing on Proposed 2020 Health Insurance Rates

Stephen C. Taylor, Commissioner of the Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (Department), hereby gives notice of the Department’s intent to conduct a public hearing on the results of its actuarial review of the 2020 proposed health insurance rates for individual and small group health benefit plans sold in the District of Columbia. The Department will receive written or oral testimony from the public before the Department makes a final determination on the proposed rates.

Held for the past 33 years, the Walk & 5K to End HIV is Whitman-Walker Health’s signature fundraiser that calls on thousands of Washington, DC area residents to strap up their shoes and walk or run to support WWH’s mission to provide dependable, high-quality, comprehensive and accessible health care to those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

DC Health Link is partnering with Health Services for Children with Special Needs, Inc. and The National Children’s Center to promote healthy habits, immunizations, fitness, and wellness to prepare District residents for the fall school year. A wide variety of free resources will be shared such as school supplies, free smoothies, and farmer’s market fresh produce among DC residents in Ward 8. The event will have games and activities for kids including carnival rides, roller skating, and bike riding and much, much more!

National African American Male Wellness Walk

DC Health Link is partnering with The National African American Male Wellness Walk to promote healthy habits, and education about health insurance among African American males and residents in Wards 7 and 8. A DC Health Link Certified Assister will be on-site to provide in-person education and enrollment assistance to District consumers as well as answer questions, and provide information about the Special Enrollment Period, Medicaid options and financial help with plan premiums. DC Health Link and its community partner, La Clinica del Pueblo, will participate in La Fiesta Del Barrio which is an outdoor annual block party that takes place in Mt. Pleasant, DC during Hispanic Heritage Month. It is an opportunity for La Clinica to host one of the best grassroots Latino events in the DMV where the community is central to its success.

The DC Health Link program manager will be onsite to provide in-person education, information about the Special Enrollment Period and answer questions to Business Owners and Entrepreneurs about DC Health Link - the District’s online health insurance marketplace.
