While the rate of uninsured in America has dropped significantly since the enactment of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA), the uninsured rate in the Latino community is generally higher than the general population. In fact, according to recent data released by the U.S. Census in 2012-2013, the Latino community has a significantly higher rate of uninsured than other racial groups. Nearly a third of Hispanics are uninsured in over half of all U.S. states.
